Andrew's design philosophy

Andrew enjoyed a successful 20 year career in television, working for many of the major broadcasters before running his own production company. However, something was missing and he followed his dreams to become a garden designer, studying and obtaining distinctions in both horticulture and garden design at the highly respected Sparsholt College, before launching Andrew Williamson Garden Design.

Andrew’s calm, thoughtful and positive nature shines through in his approach to design. His ability to grasp a brief ensures designs are fit for purpose and unique to client and space, with carefully considered concepts and a coherent style threaded throughout.

Andrew's philosophy is built around a desire to create gardens that connect people, place and nature. Central to this is understanding each of their specific needs and responding sensitively, with considered use of plants, materials and features, observing the spirit of a place and the conditions, and, where possible, employing a local first, sustainable approach, so that designs are as ecologically and environmentally responsible as possible.
